Druid Hills High School Alma Mater 1957
Let my voice in joyous song
Praise thy graces Druid Hills!
Let my life if short or long
Show thy traces Druid Hills!
Let my life reflect thy glory,
Let my life repeat thy story,
Crowning thee with more renown,
Crowning thee with more renown.
Join my voice and soul and heart
All who love thee Druid Hills!
So that even when we part
Spirit of thee Druid Hills!
Bind us brother as to brother
Bind us closely to each other,
Hail to thee, O Druid Hills!
Hail to thee, O Druid Hills!
Lyrics: Charles Danforth Saggus, Ph.D.
Music: Gaudeamus Igitur - Johannes Brahms

Druid Hills, my stepping stone
Your old brick walls my second home
Grounded firmly in tradition
United in a common vision

Always stand tall, Druid Hills
Above them all, Druid Hills
In our hearts, Druid Hills
Hold on forever, Druid Hills

Druid Hills, diverse and strong
Druid Hills where all belong
‘Round the world, from many places
Wealth of cultures, faiths, and faces

Always stand tall, Druid Hills
Above them all, Druid Hills
In our hearts, Druid Hills
Hold on forever, Druid Hills

As we leave you, we’ll remember
Druid Hills our alma mater.
Sisters, brothers, hand in hand,
For Druid Hills we proudly stand.

Always stand tall, Druid Hills
Above them all, Druid Hills
In our hearts, Druid Hills
Hold on forever, Druid Hills

Lyrics: Tune composed by Mr. Goodwin's students--which incorporates in the last verse the tune of the original alma mater.
Adopted in 2004 by the Students of Dr. Melissa King-Roger's Creative Writing Class

On January 17, 2002 a ceremony was held in the Uhry Auditorium to honor Dr. Charles Danforth Saggus by alumni from the classes 1958, 1959, and 1960. Dr. Saggus was the Druid Hills history teacher who wrote the school's Alma Mater. He wrote the words to the Druid Hills Alma Mater to the tune of "Gaudemous Igitur" (Latin). An alumni from the class of 1959 wrote the following about Dr. Saggus: "Teachers mean so much in our lives, and Dr. Charles Saggus was exceptional."
